MoTeC announced their new M1 Plug and Play standalone for the Toyota 86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. The MoTeC system will completely replace the stock computer, and allow full control of the port fuel injectors, direct injection, ignition timing, drive by wire throttle system, quad cam control and more. We got our hands on the new Haltech Elite standalone engine management and are very excited for this latest Haltech offering. The new Haltech Elite standalone comes in a new case that is submersible, fully waterproof. 8 Fuel Injection Outputs (high or low impedance) and 8 Ignition Ouputs are onboard the Haltech Elite, along with 28 Digital Outputs and 10 Analogue Voltage Inputs. The Haltech Elite comes with an oscilloscope to help quickly identify trigger types and for diagnostics. 6 Engine Position Inputs are on-board the Haltech Elite as well, with extensive trigger support and ability to quickly setup new crank and cam trigger types.

Recently we completed two Z32 300ZX Twin Turbo dyno tunes. Both were updated from reflashed stock computers to the much superior Haltech Platinum Pro Plug-In standalone engine managements. The Haltech EMS is a complete replacement for the stock computer and plugs directly into the stock harness. The standalone also enables live speed density tuning, so there is no need for maf splitters or waiting to mail tunes in and out. The end result of both was better performance and improved drivability.

This white 2012 Hyundai Genesis coupe r-spec 2.0T came in for some mods to boost the power output of the 2.0L turbocharged Theta engine. Baseline dyno showed 178whp on our Dyno Dynamics, at which time we planned the following:

Next, the stock ECU was removed and a Haltech Pro Plug-In ecu was fitted in it’s place. Fuel, ignition, cam timing and boost were dialed in on the Haltech standalone, yielding 232whp on 93octane pump gas – a 54whp or 30% increase in power!
The customer runs the car at SCCA autocross events, and recently took it to Putnam Park road course for a Porsche track day event. He sent a link to the footage along with these kind words, “Here’s a video from the last session on Sunday. I was the only car out there on street tires in that session. The second car I passed is a 2011 GT3 on Hoosier R6’s. Thanks for the help and for the perfect tune.”
